Lancaster Man Uses Toddler As 'Pawn' While Resisting Arrest: Police
A Lancaster man is accused of using a toddler as a "pawn" while resisting arrest after trapping a victim in a bedroom and preventing them from leaving, Manheim Township police announced.
Derreck Michael Wilkins, 26, was charged with endangering the welfare of children, false imprisonment, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and harassment, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by Daily Voice on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2025, at an apartment on the 1900 block of Oregon Pike, police said.

Brandon Martinez, 35, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the December 2022 death of 53-year-old Stacey Shannon. He was sentenced on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, to 20 to 40 years in state prison by President Judge Scott Arthur Evans in Dauphin County.

A 44-year--old Newark woman is on the lam after she took a person's dog on Saturday, Jan. 18, authorities said.
At 3:30 p.m., a woman let her Shih Tzu poodle mix out to roam in the front yard of her home on the 100 block of Norfolk Street, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. said.
When the dog did not return, surveillance footage captured Hymifah Richardson taking the animal and walking south on Norfolk Street, Miranda said.
Richardson is described as 5’5” tall and 200 pounds, Miranda said. She is wanted on charges of burglary, theft, and harassment, Miranda said.
